Thumbs Up is part of the The Companion series after Henry Scott Tuke. Indeed, the supine figure is the same model for The Sunbathers. In fact, if it wasn't for a friend commenting, "The standing figure looks more real than the supine.." I probably wouldn't have launched into the Sunbathers so readily. Regarding Thumbs up, I realized that i needed to lift up the horizon to capture all the reflected light that now interacts with both figures. And, I love the idea of the euphemistic "thumbs-up" of the pedestrian that approves of the sun-loving odalisk. And, it's likely this painting will continue to evolve.
