The Sunbathers is a current work in progress as of March 2022, and it is a companion piece to The Critics, or The Companions. In The Sunbathers, I continue and reaffirm my understanding of rendering light as illuminated in Tuke's paintings. I choose to represent frontal nudity unlike Tuke whom I am unaware of any painting that does so, and Tuke in the 1880s unlikely represented genitalia in an era restricted by prejudice. I like to think that artist like myself pick up where masters like Tuke left off.
